CEED is conducted once per year in January, with registration typically opening in October or November at ceed.iitb.ac.in. Unlike NATA which runs twice a year, CEED gives you a single registration window each cycle. IIT Bombay manages the entire process online, from registration through admit card to result. This page walks you through every stage of the CEED 2027 registration process with approximate dates, fee details, and document requirements.
Dates and fee figures on this page are approximate, based on the CEED 2026 cycle. IIT Bombay typically announces official CEED 2027 dates and fee in October 2026. Always verify at ceed.iitb.ac.in before registering.

Eligibility recap before you register
Confirm your eligibility before starting your application. The registration fee is non-refundable, and applications found ineligible at the verification stage are rejected without fee refund.
Qualification
Bachelor's degree from any discipline (B.Des, B.Tech, B.Arch, B.Sc, B.A, BFA, or any other recognised degree). Final year students eligible.
Minimum marks
Minimum 55% aggregate in Bachelor's degree. Minimum 50% for SC, ST, and PwD candidates. CGPA must be converted to percentage using your institution's formula.
Age limit
No age limit. CEED is open to candidates of any age who hold an eligible Bachelor's degree.
Nationality
Both Indian nationals and foreign nationals are eligible. Foreign nationals should check individual IIT M.Des programme policies for international admissions.
Attempt limit
No limit on number of CEED attempts. You can appear every year. Each CEED score is valid for one year only.
Working professionals
Eligible. No restriction on work experience or employment gaps. Working professionals are a significant portion of CEED candidates every year.
If you are unsure whether your degree qualifies, contact IIT Bombay at ceedoffice@iitb.ac.in (verify the current email on ceed.iitb.ac.in) before paying the registration fee.
Documents required for CEED registration
Prepare all documents before opening the application portal. Having everything ready avoids session timeouts and last-minute scanning issues. All documents are uploaded as digital files: verify the format and size requirements in the official CEED 2027 information brochure.
Degree certificate or appearing certificate
If you have completed your degree, scan the original degree certificate. If you are in your final year, scan your most recent marksheet showing all completed semesters. File format: PDF, maximum size as per portal specifications.
Category certificate (if applicable)
Required for SC, ST, OBC-NCL, EWS, and PwD candidates. Must be issued by the competent authority (district collectorate or state government). Should be recent. Castelist/community certificate in the format required by central government institutions.
Valid photo identity proof
Aadhaar card (preferred), passport, voter ID, or driving licence. Must be government-issued. Scan both sides if the document has information on both sides.
Passport-size photograph
Recent colour photograph with white or light background. Face clearly visible, no sunglasses or hats. Size and resolution as per CEED 2027 information brochure (typically 300x400 pixels minimum, JPEG format). Same photograph must be carried to the exam centre on exam day.
Scanned signature
Black ink signature on white paper, then scanned. The signature should match the signature on your identity documents. JPEG format. Avoid signing in pencil or on lined paper.
Work experience letter (optional)
Not required for CEED registration. Relevant only if individual IIT M.Des programmes request it during their separate counselling or admission process.
Document preparation tip: Create a folder on your computer with all required documents scanned and labelled clearly before you start the application. Use a scanner, not a phone camera, for official documents: phone photos often have shadows, distortion, or poor resolution. Check file sizes before the session and compress if needed using a PDF or image tool.

General, OBC-NCL, EWS
Rs 2,200 (approx.)
SC, ST, PwD

Step-by-step registration walkthrough
The entire CEED registration process is online and typically takes 20 to 30 minutes once your documents are ready. Follow these steps in order.
Step 1: visit the official CEED portal
Go to ceed.iitb.ac.in and look for the "Online Registration" link. The portal opens in October 2026 for CEED 2027. Do not register through any other website. Only ceed.iitb.ac.in is the official portal managed by IIT Bombay.
Step 2: create your account
Register with your email address and a password. You will receive a verification email. Click the link in that email to activate your account before proceeding. Use an email address you access regularly, as all communications from IIT Bombay will go to this address.
Step 3: fill in personal information
Enter your name (exactly as on your degree certificate), date of birth, gender, category (General, OBC-NCL, EWS, SC, ST, or PwD), nationality, and contact number. All information must match your official documents. Discrepancies at the verification stage will cause your application to be rejected.
Step 4: enter educational details
Provide details of your Bachelor's degree: institution name, degree awarded, discipline or specialisation, year of passing (or expected year if you are in your final year), and aggregate percentage or CGPA. If your institution uses a CGPA scale, convert it to percentage using your institution's official conversion formula.
Step 5: upload documents
Upload your degree certificate or final year marksheet, category certificate if applicable, passport-size photograph (white background, recent), and scanned signature. All documents must be in the format and size specified in the CEED 2027 information brochure. Prepare these files before opening the form to avoid session timeouts.
Step 6: select exam city preferences
Choose up to 3 exam cities in order of preference. IIT Bombay allocates centres based on availability. You are not guaranteed your first preference, so choose cities where travel is genuinely feasible for you. City allocation is confirmed on the admit card released approximately 2 to 3 weeks before the exam.
Step 7: review and submit
Carefully review every field before submitting. Check spellings, dates, document uploads, and exam city selection. Once you click Submit, editing is not possible until the correction window opens. Read through the entire form at least twice before final submission.
Step 8: pay the registration fee
After submitting the form, you will be redirected to the payment gateway. Pay using debit card, credit card, net banking, or UPI. Keep your payment receipt and transaction ID. The fee is non-refundable. If the payment fails, retry on the same portal: do not assume failure means your application was not submitted.
Step 9: download your confirmation
After successful payment, download and save your application confirmation with your application number. This number is your login credential for the portal going forward. You will use it to download the admit card, check results, and communicate with IIT Bombay about your application.
After submitting: Save a screenshot or PDF of your completed application form before closing the browser. If the portal has a "Print Application" option, use it. Keep all confirmation emails from IIT Bombay in a dedicated folder. You will need your application number to access the portal for admit card download, correction window, and result.
Photograph and signature specifications
Applications with incorrect photograph or signature formats are rejected during scrutiny. Follow these guidelines and verify against the official CEED 2027 information brochure before uploading.
Photograph guidelines
- โ Recent photograph (within 6 months)
- โ Colour photograph, white or light background
- โ Face clearly visible, looking at the camera
- โ No sunglasses, hat, or heavy filters
- โ JPEG/JPG format
- โ Size: as per current CEED brochure specifications
- โ Same photo must be carried to exam centre
Signature guidelines
- โ Black or dark blue ink on white paper
- โ Sign as you would on official documents
- โ Avoid signing in pencil
- โ Do not use block letters for signature
- โ Scan the signature (do not photograph)
- โ JPEG/JPG format
- โ Same signature style used in all subsequent interactions
What to do after submitting your application
Submitting the application is not the last step. Here is what happens next and what you should do at each stage.
Immediately after submission
Download and save your confirmation receipt with application number. Check that the confirmation email has arrived. Note your application number somewhere safe: you need it to log in to the portal going forward.
Correction window (if applicable)
IIT Bombay typically opens a correction window shortly after the registration deadline. Log in and review your application for any errors. Correct personal details, exam city preference, or uploaded documents if needed. This is your only chance to fix mistakes before the exam.
Admit card release (December 2026)
Log into ceed.iitb.ac.in and download your admit card. Print at least two copies. Verify every detail: name, application number, exam centre address, exam date, and time. Any discrepancy must be reported to IIT Bombay immediately. Do not wait until exam day to discover an error on your admit card.
Exam day (January 2027)
Carry your printed admit card and an original photo identity proof (Aadhaar, passport, or any government ID that matches the name on your admit card). Arrive at the exam centre at least 30 minutes before the reporting time. Latecomers are not admitted after the gates close.
Part A result (late February 2027)
Check ceed.iitb.ac.in for your Part A result. If you have cleared the qualifying cutoff, your Part B response will be evaluated. Part A marks are not added to your score: you only need to know whether you qualified or not.
Final result and merit list (mid-March 2027)
Your CEED 2027 score and merit rank are published. If you have a rank, you can now apply to individual IIT M.Des programmes. Each IIT has a separate application or counselling process. Check IIT Bombay IDC, IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati, IIT Hyderabad, IIT Kanpur, IIT Jodhpur, IIT Roorkee, and IISc Bengaluru individually for their M.Des admission procedures.
CEED helpdesk contact
For any issues with your registration, admit card, or results, contact IIT Bombay through the official CEED helpdesk. Email: verify the current address on ceed.iitb.ac.in (typically ceedoffice@iitb.ac.in). Phone helpdesk details are also available on the portal during active registration and result periods. Always include your application number in any correspondence.
Common mistakes and how to avoid them
Most registration problems are avoidable with a little preparation. These are the most common errors CEED applicants make and what to do instead.
Waiting until the deadline to register
Portal traffic is highest on the final 2 to 3 days before the deadline. Slow loading or technical errors are more likely. Complete your registration at least a week before the deadline. If you encounter a technical issue, you have time to resolve it.
Uploading unclear or incorrect documents
Scan all documents at 300 DPI minimum. Check clarity and legibility before uploading. Blurry, cut-off, or incorrectly labelled documents are rejected at scrutiny, sometimes after the correction window has closed.
Mismatch between application name and degree certificate
Enter your name exactly as it appears on your degree certificate or final year marksheet, including initials, middle names, and any punctuation. Even minor differences (abbreviated middle name, missing initial) can cause rejection at verification.
Selecting only one exam city preference
Select all 3 preferences, even if one is slightly less convenient. If your first preference city is full, IIT Bombay will allocate your second or third preference. If you have only one preference and that city is full, you may receive a distant centre.
Not saving the application confirmation
Save the confirmation PDF or take a screenshot immediately after payment. If the portal logs you out before you save the confirmation, contact the CEED helpdesk with your email address and transaction ID to retrieve your application number.
Not checking the admit card in advance
Download your admit card the day it is released and verify all details: name, photograph, exam centre address, and time. If anything is incorrect, contact IIT Bombay immediately. Finding an error on the morning of the exam is too late.
Assuming programme preference is set at registration
CEED registration does not include programme preference selection. After your merit rank is declared, you apply separately to individual IIT M.Des programmes. Each institution has its own application process, deadlines, and selection criteria. Research these in advance so you are ready to apply promptly after the result.
