NIFT Delhi is the founding campus of the National Institute of Fashion Technology network, established in 1986 in collaboration with the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT), New York. Located in Hauz Khas, one of Delhi's most vibrant creative neighbourhoods, the campus sits at the heart of India's design and fashion establishment. For nearly four decades it has set the standard for fashion education in the country, and no other NIFT campus matches its depth of industry relationships, alumni network, or programme range.

Delhi's position as India's capital means NIFT Delhi students have unparalleled access to the country's fashion policy ecosystem, textile ministry bodies, export councils, and the government's crafts organisations. The campus benefits from proximity to Janpath's craft markets, Chandni Chowk's fabric bazaars, the Cottage Industries Exposition, and the offices of major fashion brands and retail groups headquartered in the National Capital Region. This city-as-classroom advantage is something no other NIFT location can replicate at the same scale.

NIFT Delhi offers 10 programmes, more than any other campus in the network. The B.Des programmes cover Fashion Design, Fashion Communication, Textile Design, Accessory Design, Leather Design, and Knitwear Design. The B.F.Tech in Apparel Production caters to students interested in the technical and manufacturing side of fashion. At the postgraduate level, the campus offers M.Des, Master of Fashion Management (MFM), and M.F.Tech, making it one of the few NIFT campuses with a complete academic ladder from undergraduate to postgraduate. Total B.Des intake is 220 seats, with a combined campus strength of approximately 376 students per year across all programmes.

The fee for a 4-year B.Des programme at NIFT Delhi ranges from approximately Rs 10 to 12 lakhs for the full course. While this is among the higher ends of the NIFT fee range, it remains significantly below private design colleges offering comparable brand value. Admission follows the standard NIFT process: the General Ability Test (GAT) and Creative Ability Test (CAT) conducted by NTA, followed by a Situation Test for B.Des shortlisted candidates. Placement at NIFT Delhi is the strongest in the NIFT network. Alumni work across international luxury brands, major Indian fashion houses, D2C labels, apparel export companies, and fashion media. The campus has produced designers who have worked with Sabyasachi, Manish Malhotra, Tarun Tahiliani, and international houses. Fashion communication graduates move into editorial photography, styling, brand management, and content leadership at leading fashion titles and retail groups. The FIT New York collaboration, maintained since 1986, has historically provided a global frame of reference that graduates carry into their careers.
