NIT Calicut: Department of Architecture and Planning

NIT Calicut was established in 1961 as the Regional Engineering College Calicut (now National Institute of Technology Calicut). Admission to B.Arch at NIT Calicut is through JEE Main Paper 2 via JOSAA centralised counselling, with approximately 80 seats per year split between Home State (Kerala) and Other State quotas. This admissions pathway is distinct from NATA colleges and makes NIT Calicut accessible only to students who qualify JEE Main. B.Arch at NIT Calicut: seats, JoSAA cutoff, and who can qualify

NIT Calicut offers approximately 80 B.Arch seats per year under JoSAA, one of the larger allocations among NIT B.Arch programmes nationally. In JoSAA 2025 Round 1, the Open General closing rank for Home State (Kerala) candidates was approximately 208, and for Other State candidates approximately 232. This means students from outside Kerala with JEE Main Paper 2 ranks up to approximately 232 can qualify through the Other State quota.

The Other State closing rank of 232 is notably more accessible than SPA Delhi's Round 1 closing rank of approximately 207. A student from outside Kerala with rank 225 would miss SPA Delhi but qualify for NIT Calicut's Other State quota. For Kerala students, the Home State closing rank of approximately 208 reflects a competitive local pool given that Kerala consistently produces strong JEE Main performers. Both quotas use JEE Main Paper 2 as the sole qualifying exam; NATA is not accepted.

Fees at NIT Calicut follow government NIT rates: approximately Rs 1.5-2 lakh per year. Over five years, the total B.Arch cost is roughly Rs 7.5-10 lakh.
